Participating in a fun run, bike race, or walkathon is a good way to support a cause and be active at the same time. Having a future fitness event planned will help you stay motivated to exercise. Check out these sites to find an event for you:

The March of Dimes Birth Defects Foundation WalkAmerica
The March of Dimes WalkAmerica program, which takes place in 1400 communities nationwide, raises money to prevent birth defects and help premature babies. Participants can walk as individuals or as part of a team. The site has information on locations of walks and how you can get involved.

The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society's Team in Training
More than 30,000 runners, walkers, and cyclists participate in the world's major marathons and bike tours on behalf of the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. Team in Training puts proceeds toward finding cures for leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin's disease, and myeloma. To find out about races, go to their Web site.

National Multiple Sclerosis Foundation BikeTour
More than 75,000 cyclists participate annually in one of more than 120 MS BikeTours. They are offered in 48 states, from the California wine country, to the Colorado Rockies, to the New England shoreline. Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation's Race for the Cure
With 1.3 million participants each year, the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation's Race for the Cure boasts the biggest series of 5K races in the world. Proceeds from the Komen Race for the Cure Series help fund important breast cancer research as well as breast health initiatives on a local level. Race dates vary according to location, so make sure to visit the Komen Race for the Cure Web site to find out where and when to register.

American Cancer Society Relay for Life
Relay For Life celebrates survivorship and raises money for research and programs for local branches of the American Cancer Society. During the event, teams of people gather at schools, fairgrounds, or parks and take turns walking or running laps. Each team tries to keep at least one team member on the track at all times.
